Under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) the Church Leaders of Open Door Church (the church) are the Data Controllers and the Church Administrator acts as our Data Protection Lead.

Why are we asking for your details?

We are collecting this information to enable the church to keep in touch with you; to provide pastoral support as appropriate, to keep up-to-date membership and support for the church; and to promote church activities. GDPR legislation allows us to process this information as it is in the church’s legitimate interest.

What will you do with this info?

Your name and contact details will be entered into our church database, provided by Edit Websites*. This information may also be stored in the Church Leaders’ and Church Administrator’s contacts. We would also like to include your details in our mailing list so we can distribute newsletters and information relevant to the life of the church. If you are happy for your details to be included, please complete the attached consent form.

How do you keep my information safe?

Your data is password protected and is accessed by the Church Leaders and the Church Administrator. This information will not be shared with anyone else, without your consent.

Can other people view my details?

The general public can’t view any of the details we store about you. Other church members can view only your name and email address. If you are part of a team, the team leader will use your name and email address to create team rotas.

How long will you keep my information?

Your contact details will be removed from the database once you are no longer a member of the church – unless you ask to remain as one of our ‘church friends’. You can ask for your details to be removed at any time by contacting the Church Administrator.

Who keeps pastoral information?

The Church Leaders or Church Administrator may securely record pastoral information in order to offer support to you and your family.

Can I see what information you hold about me?

You have the right to ask to see any information we hold about you by submitting a ‘Subject Access Request’ to the Church Administrator. You also have the right to ask for information which you believe to be incorrect to be amended.

Who can I ask for more information?

If you are concerned about the way your information is being handled, please speak to our Data Protection Lead. If you are still unhappy, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

This statement is the short version of our Privacy Notice. Please ask for a copy of the Open Door Church’s full Privacy Notice for more information.
