Happy family

Christians against Poverty (CAP) aims to show God’s love in action by providing sustainable poverty relief through debt counselling, advice and practical help.

CAP’s unique approach empowers people to help themselves out of poverty and be released from the fear, oppression and worry generated by overwhelming debts. Vital financial and budgeting life skills are developed through our services, thus ensuring poverty relief is sustainable. CAP is celebrating 15 years of operation having been founded in 1996 by John Kirkby. As a Christian, and in response to the tremendous poverty in his home town of Bradford, he believed God was calling him to use the skills gained through 17 years experience in the consumer finance industry to reach out to people suffering under the burden of debt.

Working in partnership with Christians against Poverty enables us to provide a professional debt counselling service offered free of charge.

Our CAP Centre opened in 2007 giving access to this wonderful service for those in need in and around the city of Peterborough.
