GENESIS
A Group For New Beginnings
The Genesis Group is for anyone who wants to explore through discussion and a meal, more about the Christian faith. It is designed to be informal, conversational and takes place around a table with food.
It is for anyone who is not familiar with church, wants to find out more and would like an opportunty to ask questions. The group takes its name from Genesis, the first book in the Bible, which means beginnings.
Laying a proper foundation is of critical importance for all new Christians. Genesis is designed for people who are seeking God and would like to know more about faith, God, church and life in general in a non-threatening environment.
What will I experience at GENESIS?
You will share a home-cooked meal around a table where you can meet new people and make new friends. Opportunity is there for you to ask any questions you may have. These can be about God, faith, church, life in general, and anything else! You will be able to listen to a real-life story of God at work in day-to-day life and share your own thoughts and insights. A Bible verse is read and explained. Everyone is invited to write a request for prayer and the group will pray for God to answer them. Answers to prayer are shared and celebrated from previous weeks.
From the first evening, everyone is made very welcome and will begin to get to know each other and feel at ease. As the group progresses there will be opportunity to pray for one another and expect God to answer those prayers based on the promises God gives through the Bible. Group members are encouraged to get to know one another and provide a support network for each other. They are also encouraged to come along to the Open Door Church on Sundays and the Open Door Centre during the week.
