These Books have the Wow factor

freshwindfreshfire

Reading Fresh Wind Fresh Fire gave me a passion for prayer like I have never known before and it has stirred me up for God in the most natural and wonderful ways.  It was incredibly refreshing because I didn't have to try - I just read the book and God did it for me.  It's written by a pastor in America with the most humble beginnings which we as a church can identify with.  If you get a chance to read it, read it!

I read My Time in Heaven in 48 hours and couldn't wait to get back to it anytime I had to stop reading!  It is written by a man who was killed in a car accident and writes about his visit to heaven.  It has the most amazing detail in chapter upon chapter of what he saw, said and did.  This book transformed my view of heaven and really stretched my faith to believe in a much much bigger heaven than I ever imagined and a much bigger God than I can even begin to get my little head around.  This book made me cry with the intimacy and love Jesus shows for us when we simply love him and worship him.  It has made me realise just how much God is involved in my life and has made my prayers much more heartfelt knowing for sure that God hears me and even writes it all down.

It would be really good if more people shared books that they would recommend to others. I am always more interested in reading a book if it is personally recommended. Also would be interested to hear of Christian fiction books that others have enjoyed for those lighter moments!

been reading the God Chasers in the last few days! great book to set the vision high!!

I always enjoy Gilbert Morris' writing, very easy and it always turns out well in the end! He did start writing a series called Lion of Judah, which focuses on Old Testament characters who had a vision of the Lion of Judah yet to come! good stuff

Just finished Philip Yancey's "What's So Amazing About Grace?" Absolutely brilliant! Can also recommend Chuck Swindoll's "The Grace Awakening" which completely revolutionised my thinking in the early 1990s.

I read God Chasers years ago and it was foundational in cementing a passion in me to never stop chasing after God and let nothing get in the way of that pursuit of Him.

Back in the summer I read 'Through the gates of splendour' written by Elizabeth Elliot and tells the story of how and her husband Jim Elliot went to Auca Indians in Ecuador. It is a story of courage and devotion, of give all, even when it meant the death of Jim and four of his fellow workers.

I cried many tears as I read this but reinforced in me the truth that no life is wasted that is spent in the service of God.

He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose (Jim Elliot 1949)

I would highly recommend The Bait of Satan by John Bevere.ISBN 978-1-59185-413-5
It exposes how Satan uses the deceptive snare of offense to trap people from being free to walk in the will of God. It also has a 30 day devotional supplement to work through. Read it and get free!
