Family is a core value at the Open Door Church. We recognise that God has brought us together as a local expression of His worldwide family. He has called us into relationship - with Himself, with one another and with those we encounter in our daily lives. The hallmark of these relationships is to be love.
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." John 13:34
In this year of 2010 we want to focus on FAMILY:
- strengthening the Open Door Church family
- strengthening families within the Open Door Church
We consider family to be a place of:
- SECURITY - a people to belong to
- STRENGTH AND ENCOURAGEMENT- as we journey together
- OPENNESS AND HONESTY - a place to be real and let God do His work
- GROWTH - vision-focussed health and fruitfulness
- RESPONSIBILITY AND DISCIPLINE - everyone playing their part
We will also continue to advance in those areas we emphasised for 2009:
- DISCIPLESHIP - strengthening our foundations of faith in God and growing in our daily walk with Him
- PRAYER - strengthening our personal and corporate prayer life so that we may capture more of God's heart and prepare the way for us to move forward with God's resources
- SUNDAY TEACHING SERIES - providing Bible based teaching for living God's way and helping us learn to apply it
- BUILDINGS - acquiring properties to facilitate the work God has given us to do
- STAFF - increasing the workforce with more volunteers and paid staff
"I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.
